Fields of Mistria Update 1.0 Is Here: Marriage, Children and Everything New

After two years in Early Access, Fields of Mistria has officially reached version 1.0. The full release arrived on August 5, 2026, bringing marriage, children, 10-heart events and complete storylines to the cozy farming RPG. In other words, Mistria is no longer asking you to patiently wait outside a locked emotional door. You may now enter, get married and start reorganizing your spouse's furniture.

The Fields of Mistria 1.0 update adds much more than romance. Players can finish the Town Repair storyline, reach Renown Level 100, complete the museum, meet new Saturday Market vendors, collect Steam achievements and unlock a mildly ridiculous Big Chicken mount. Here is everything new in Fields of Mistria 1.0, including the details returning players should know before loading an old save.

What Is New in the Fields of Mistria 1.0 Update?

The biggest additions in Fields of Mistria version 1.0 are:

  • Marriage, weddings and children.

  • 10-heart proposal events for romanceable characters.

  • A completed Town Repair questline and Mistril Town Rank event.

  • A higher Town Renown cap of 100.

  • A completable museum with two new sets.

  • Stillwell and Zorel at the Saturday Market.

  • Steam achievements that unlock retroactively.

  • Seven new skill perks.

  • Monster pet skins and the Big Chicken mount.

  • New furniture, cosmetics and house-exterior styles.

  • Farm and home music customization.

  • Seven beta localization languages.

  • Performance, graphics and quality-of-life improvements.

That is the quick version. Now let us get into the features that will have the largest effect on your farm, relationships and carefully planned schedule that will somehow still collapse because you stopped to talk to everyone in town.

Marriage and 10-Heart Events Are Finally Here

Romance is the star of the Fields of Mistria 1.0 update. Heart caps for romanceable characters have increased to 10, and each marriage candidate now has a 10-heart proposal event. The game also adds engagement dialogue, wedding events, married-life routines and new dialogue after the ceremony.

Once you reach 10 hearts with someone you are dating, Elsie delivers the Engagement Ring recipe the following morning. You can craft the ring at a forge and use it to trigger that character's proposal event. You are also allowed to see every 10-heart event and collect each character's special item before choosing a spouse. The events can be triggered again with the ring until you officially propose, which is excellent news for players who need to conduct a completely reasonable 12-person romantic investigation before committing.

Weddings are customizable, too. In the days before the ceremony, you and your fiancé can choose details such as the flower color, cake flavor and reception meal. It is not a full wedding-planning simulator, but it offers enough control to prevent your special day from serving a cake you would personally consider a betrayal.

What Happens If You Are Dating Multiple Characters?

By default, other characters you are dating will change to Best Friends after you become engaged. Version 1.0 adds settings that can hide the breakup letters or prevent the dating-status changes entirely.

There is one important catch: the setting that prevents the breakups must be turned on before you confirm an engagement. The option becomes available through the engagement tutorial cutscene. Check the gameplay settings before accepting a proposal unless you want half of Mistria to wake up and collectively decide you are better as friends.

You Can Get Married and Have Children

Children have also arrived, but the game does not force parenthood on every married farmer. A few weeks after marriage, a cutscene makes the Mystical Feather available and opens an optional family-planning conversation. You remain in control of whether your character has a child.

That makes the system friendly to different play styles. You can build a family, enjoy married life without children or postpone the decision while you deal with more urgent responsibilities, such as completing the museum and finding a socially acceptable place to park the giant chicken.

The Town Repair Storyline Can Be Completed

Version 1.0 finally completes the Town Repair questline, allowing longtime players to finish the central story as originally planned. The Renown cap has increased to Level 100, new Town Rank quests guide progression and the Mistril Town Rank event has been added.

Two major repair quests are also part of the update:

  • Saturday Market Plaza

  • Repair the Bell Tower

This is one of the most important reasons to return even if romance is not your priority. Early Access players can now see the town's larger storyline through to its conclusion instead of reaching another polite but emotionally devastating “more content coming later” wall.

Stillwell and Zorel Join the Saturday Market

The upgraded Saturday Market welcomes two new vendors, and both introduce useful systems rather than simply selling more decorative clutter you will absolutely buy anyway.

Stillwell provides Mission Quests through a new Mission Board. Zorel sells Crystal Resonators and Song Crystals, which let you change the music playing on your farm and inside rooms in your home. Ten new songs are available through Song Crystals, while several existing seasonal tracks gain extended versions later in the game.

Music customization is a small feature on paper, but cozy-game players understand the seriousness of matching a farmhouse soundtrack to the exact emotional energy of the wallpaper.

The Museum Is Finally Completable

Completionists may now finish the museum. Version 1.0 adds two new collections, the Honey Set and Terrarium Treasures Set, along with their rewards. Players can also enter the museum's wing rooms to see the items they have donated.

The update introduces 69 Steam achievements, and existing saves do not miss out. Achievements are awarded retroactively after you load your save, based on the progress recorded there. Be prepared for Steam to spend a moment applauding everything you accomplished before achievements technically existed.

Monster Pet Skins and the Big Chicken Mount

The new Friend-Shaped combat perk allows every monster to drop a pet skin based on that creature. Once unlocked, the skin can make your pet look like the monster that dropped it. This is both adorable and a little disrespectful to the defeated monster, but mostly adorable.

Version 1.0 also adds the Big Chicken mount. No complicated explanation is needed. It is a very large chicken. You can ride it. Farming games continue to understand what the people truly want.

Seven new perks have been added across Cooking, Ranching and Woodcrafting. These include Espresso Yourself, Playtime, Eggstra, Close Bond II, True Trust, Hammer Timing IV and Deliberate Debris II. New Request Board tasks and another Friday Night at the Inn storyline also give established farms more to do.

New Furniture, Cosmetics and House Styles

The full release expands character and home customization with new furniture collections, cosmetics, wedding outfits and mount skins. New furniture includes Monster, Ornate, Bonsai and Dragon sets, while the cosmetic additions range from a Barrel Hat to Dragonfly Wings and Beetle Mandible Horns.

After fully upgrading your house, you can also change its exterior style. Landen sends a letter that unlocks the option at the Carpenter's Shop. This is the sort of endgame reward that sounds minor until you realize the outside of your farmhouse has not matched your carefully curated fence for three in-game years.

Quality-of-Life and Performance Improvements

The update includes several smaller changes that should make everyday play smoother. Dates now provide a larger heart increase, romantic partners can be kissed, mine treasure chest drops have improved and Ritual Chambers and Treasure Rooms should appear more often.

Other useful changes include:

  • Brightness and saturation sliders.

  • More graphics and performance settings.

  • Directional arrows while placing furniture.

  • Arrow icons above mine ladders.

  • Better interaction priority when standing near NPCs.

  • Automatically fed animals and watered crops during March's 8-heart event.

  • Previously inaccessible cooking recipes.

  • More than 50% lower VRAM usage.

The last change could make a noticeable difference on older computers. The developers also released follow-up patches 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 to address early crashes, bugs and additional quality-of-life issues following launch.

Do You Need to Start a New Save for Fields of Mistria 1.0?

No. Existing Fields of Mistria saves carry over to version 1.0, and you can access the new content regardless of how far you have progressed. Previously completed accomplishments also count toward the new Steam achievements.

Starting over is only worth considering if you personally want to replay the story, experience the new progression naturally or avoid receiving achievements retroactively. You do not need to sacrifice the farm you spent 80 hours decorating because a major update arrived. Your perfectly aligned crops are safe.

Is Fields of Mistria 1.0 Worth Returning For?

Yes. Version 1.0 finally gives Fields of Mistria the complete relationship and story progression that Early Access players were waiting for. Marriage and children may attract the most attention, but the completed Town Repair questline, higher Renown cap, finished museum and new vendors make the update feel substantial even for players who are not racing toward a wedding.

The best part is that your existing save remains useful. You can return to a developed farm, continue building relationships and move directly into the new late-game content. New players, meanwhile, are getting a much more complete farming RPG for the same regular price of $13.99.

Fields of Mistria may have reached 1.0, but NPC Studio says more content updates and patches are planned. For now, there are weddings to arrange, children to consider, storylines to finish and one enormous chicken waiting to become your primary form of transportation. Stardew who? Just kidding. There is room on the farm for everybody.
