Ranking Sims 4 Spooky Packs Because It’s Spooky Season, Duh

The best spooky Sims 4 packs can give you haunted houses, supernatural powers, and entire neighborhoods where nobody is behaving normally. Others give you a pumpkin-carving station. Both have their place, but only one is likely to interrupt your Sim’s evening with something more serious than an unfinished decoration.

For this personal ranking, I’m comparing eight Halloween, occult, and supernatural-themed packs, from my least favorite to my favorite. I’m judging the atmosphere, gameplay, storytelling potential, and how much there is to enjoy after the initial excitement wears off. Kits and Maker Packs aren’t included.

And yes, Spooky Stuff is last. Let me explain before someone from Forgotten Hollow comes to my house.

8. Spooky Stuff: The Party Ends, and So Does Most of the Gameplay

Spooky Stuff adds costumes, Halloween decorations, a pumpkin-carving station, a spooky candy bowl, and the Spooky Party social event. If you want your Sims to dress up and celebrate Halloween, it does the job.

The problem is what happens afterward. You’ve carved the pumpkins, worn the costume, and hosted the party. Now everyone has gone home, and you’re standing in a decorated living room wondering whether you should just have another party.

It ranks last because its appeal is mostly seasonal, with less ongoing gameplay than the other packs here. That doesn’t make it useless; it makes it a finishing touch rather than the foundation of a spooky save. Buy it for the Halloween gathering, not because you expect the house to become interesting once the guests leave.

7. Crystal Creations: At Least the Jewelry Does Something

Crystal Creations Stuff isn’t a horror pack, but its moonlight-charged gemstones and mystical crafting make it a natural fit for a witchy household. It introduces the Gemology skill, a workbench for creating jewelry and cutting gemstones, and charged creations with effects that vary by crystal.

It places above Spooky Stuff because there’s a repeatable activity to develop: collect materials, improve the skill, make something, and put its effects to use. You can build an actual hobby around it instead of waiting for another excuse to put the skeleton costume on.

It stays low because making supernatural jewelry isn’t the same as having a full occult system or a haunting to manage. Excellent for the Sim who says a crystal will fix everything. Slightly concerning when, in their case, it actually might.

6. Realm of Magic: Did the Rest of Glimmerbrook Fail to Load?

Realm of Magic has plenty I want: Spellcasters, potions, familiars, magical duels, and spells to learn. The separate Magic Realm adds somewhere to study and practice. The fantasy is there. My main problem is how little Glimmerbrook brings to it.

Glimmerbrook has five lots, and the map makes that painfully obvious. You open it ready to choose where your witch will build a whole new life, then realize you’ve already looked at everything. I’m not asking for a major metropolitan area. I would, however, like to feel that leaving the house gives me options.

The Magic Realm helps, but it doesn’t make Glimmerbrook feel like a fuller residential world. Plus, Magic Realm could use an expansion too. I wanted more places to visit, more local activity, and more reasons to spend time there.

It ranks above Crystal Creations for its deeper magical systems, but sixth overall because the surrounding experience feels unfinished to me. I can learn powerful spells. Apparently expanding the neighborhood isn’t one of them.

5. Paranormal Stuff: Finally, My House Bothers Me

Paranormal Stuff brings Haunted House Residential lots, séances, the Medium skill, Guidry, Bonehilda, and the freelance Paranormal Investigator career. For a Stuff Pack, it gives you an impressive amount to do...and several reasons your Sim won’t be getting a decent night’s sleep.

It ranks above Realm of Magic because its features come together into a spooky experience I want to keep using. The haunting affects life at home, while investigations give you somewhere to take those skills. You aren’t simply decorating a haunted house and pretending something happened. Something is happening, and your Sim would like it to stop.

My real complaint? I wish this had been a Game Pack. Imagine a haunted vacation destination with creepy rentals, local ghost stories, added lore and investigations across a whole town. That’s something I wish existed, not a feature included here. I want my Sims to pay for a relaxing weekend and discover the previous guest never actually left. Paranormal gave me a great idea, and now I want the larger version.

It lands below Vampires because I find a fully developed occult life state offers more ways to shape a Sim’s entire story, but this is one of the strongest smaller packs on the list.

4. Vampires: Great Powers, Excellent Atmosphere, Terrible Neighbors

Vampires adds customizable vampire forms, a progression system with powers and weaknesses, Vampire Lore, the Pipe Organ skill, and the gothic world of Forgotten Hollow. It gives you useful choices about what kind of vampire you want to play, from a restrained immortal to someone the neighborhood should stop inviting inside.

The powers and weaknesses are what make it stand above Paranormal. Becoming a vampire affects how you manage daily life, and developing that Sim can remain interesting well beyond their first dramatic outfit change.

It doesn’t reach the top three because Forgotten Hollow is small, and…Vladislaus Straud… I prefer the social structure and messier personality systems in Werewolves. Vampires wins on elegant gothic atmosphere, though. You can make a magnificent house for a Sim whose entire evening consists of playing the organ and deciding who looks drinkable.

3. Werewolves: More Personality, Less Furniture Left Intact

Werewolves adds Moonwood Mill, supernatural abilities, individual temperaments, Fury, pack membership, and lore connecting werewolves with other occult Sims. The Moonwood Collective and Wildfangs also give your wolf a community to join, and expectations to deal with.

It ranks above Vampires because the temperaments, Fury, and pack relationships give me more material for unpredictable stories. Your werewolf’s personality matters to the experience, and controlling their behavior can become part of the challenge. A vampire can spend an evening looking mysterious. A werewolf may require you to pause and reassess the furniture situation.

The grungy style won’t suit everyone, and neither will managing Fury. That’s also why it stops below Life & Death: it’s a strong occult experience, but a specific one. Still, for a Sim whose supernatural condition should cause actual household inconvenience, Werewolves delivers.

2. Life & Death: Even Dying Won’t Clear Your To-Do List

Life & Death adds Ravenwood, the Soul’s Journey system, Bucket Lists, Unfinished Business, rebirth, expanded ghost gameplay, funerals, wills, and the Reaper and Undertaker careers. It explores both living a meaningful life and what happens when that life ends.

It ranks above Werewolves because its features can support a much wider range of households. You can play a gothic family, pursue a career connected to death, explore the afterlife, or give a long-running legacy a more developed way to handle loss. There’s more here than becoming a particular creature.

The storytelling potential earns it second place. You can spend a lifetime helping your Sim accomplish their goals, only to discover they still have things to finish after death. You thought you were finally free of managing this person. They have returned, and apparently we’re still working on ourselves.

1. StrangerVille: The Neighbors Are Smiling, and I Would Like Them to Stop

StrangerVille takes first place because it gives me something I particularly enjoy in The Sims 4: a strange place, an investigation, and a reason to leave the house that isn’t buying another piece of furniture.

The desert town comes with a story centered on its secret lab, suspicious plants, and disturbingly possessed residents. You gather evidence and work through the mystery, while the pack also adds the Military career. The atmosphere does a lot of the work. Usually, a neighbor smiling at your Sim is harmless. Here, you start wishing they’d simply been rude.

The investigation gives me a clear reason to explore, collect evidence, and talk to people I would normally cross the road to avoid. Then the story builds to an actual boss battle. You prepare, recruit allies, and issue commands during the fight. In The Sims 4. The game where getting everyone to sit down for dinner can already require extensive supervision.

That is why StrangerVille wins. How am I supposed to put pumpkin carving above gathering a team to fight something in a secret laboratory? Even compared with the stronger packs, its combination of atmosphere, investigation, and a proper confrontation gives me a distinct experience.

Why does it beat Life & Death? Life & Death offers broader ongoing systems, but StrangerVille gives me a boss fight and a story that’s not primarily focused on just my household. I like having a mystery to pursue and a town whose condition is central to the story.

Its main limitation is replayability: once you know the answers, another investigation won’t have the same surprise. That keeps it from being an automatic recommendation for everyone. But for my ranking, its distinctive atmosphere and clear sense of purpose win. I wanted something unsettling to happen in my save, and StrangerVille didn’t make me stage the whole thing myself.

Which Spooky Sims 4 Pack Should You Choose?

StrangerVille is my favorite for an immersive creepy story, while Life & Death is my pick for broader storytelling across a long-running save. Choose Werewolves or Vampires if you want an occult Sim whose abilities and limitations shape everyday life. Paranormal Stuff is especially appealing if you want the haunting to happen at home.

The lower-ranked packs still have a role. Realm of Magic supports the witch fantasy, Crystal Creations adds useful mystical crafting, and Spooky Stuff gets everyone dressed for the occasion.

Someone does need to organize the Halloween party. I just don’t think that person should beat the entire possessed town.
